Fellowship Experience Advisor

Dan Sinker (he/him) is a journalist, multimedia artist, and program designer. He founded the influential magazine Punk Planet in 1994 when he was just nineteen years old and chronicled underground music, art, and politics for thirteen years. He was a JSK Fellow at Stanford University in 2007 and went on to found the journalism nonprofit OpenNews in 2011. Dan cohosts the long-running current events podcast Says Who and is a frequent contributor to Esquire magazine; he has also written for The Atlantic, Slate, and The New York Times. He joined the Civic Media Fellowship team in 2019 and lives just outside Chicago.
