Sesali Bowen

Sesali Bowen is a multifaceted author, cultural commentator, and brand strategist. She is the author of the acclaimed 2021 memoir/manifesto, Bad Fat Black Girl: Notes From A Trap Feminist. She was an entertainment writer at Refinery29 and one of the architects of Unbothered, their sub-brand for Black women, before overseeing the entertainment vertical at NYLON magazine. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, InStyle, and more. In 2024, Sesali co-wrote Da Baddest, the memoir from female rap icon, Trina. She is currently working on her first novel, writing for her Substack Notes From A Trap Feminist, and providing creative strategy for brands and agencies. Sesali was born and raised in Chicago, and currently lives in Newark.
